Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! This year might be a little different on how we will be celebrating. Restaurants may haven’t fully opened up all the way, and many people will celebrate at home with a nice home-cooked meal or take out. But for dessert though, I have you covered! Whether you’re a party of 2 or 1, we all deserve something a little sweet and special. I have put together 6 perfect wine and dessert pairings for this holiday that can all be easily found at your local grocery store.
#1) Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is loved by many and its best-friend when it comes to desserts is anything that’s rich and chocolatey. That’s why I have chosen Betty Crocker’s Warm Delights Mini Molten lava cake. All you have to do is pop them in the oven. They also come in a set of two which is perfect!! If you cant find that, literally anything that is a rich and decadent chocolate, like brownies, would pair deliciously!
#2) Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir, which is light, silky in tannins, and easy-drinking, pairs perfectly with milk chocolate. That’s why chocolate-covered strawberries, the good ol’ classic box of chocolates, or chocolate chip cookies will work perfectly with this wine.
#3) Sparkling Wine
Just about everyone loves bubbles! Whether it be a Prosecco, Cava, or the classic Champagne, you want to pair something either light and refreshing or rich and creamy.
The first recommendation is a raspberry sorbet. Sorbet in general works beautifully with sparkling wine. If you want to be extra fancy, pour a scoop into a wine glass and top it off with some bubbles. LIFE CHANGING!
The second recommendation is a fruit tart. It’s light and refreshing from the fruit and creamy filled center, and the butter from the crust matches so well with the acidity of the sparkling wine.
#4) Sparkling Rose

If there is one thing that gets me warm and fuzzy inside, it’s a sparkling rose. It’s always such a beautiful color in the glass and its notes of fresh strawberries, raspberries, and citrus, like grapefruit, is so hard for me to resist and pass up.
Sparkling wine, in general, always pairs well with anything that’s fatty and creamy. My recommendations are either a New York style cheesecake or a white chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream (my favorite is by Häagen-Daz). All that high acid in the wine is going to cut through the fat from the milk and cream. FUN FACT: bubbles in the wine acts like a natural palate cleanser, so every bit will be fresh and new.
#5) Rose
Oh my, if there’s anything that pairs more perfectly with Rose’s, it’s peaches!! Trust me on this one. At your grocery store bakery department, grab yourself a peach pie and some vanilla ice cream. Or, if you want to take it up a notch, grab a roll of brie, crescent rolls, and make yourself a baked brie topped with peach marmalade. You will thank me later.
#6) Moscato

Remember when Drake made Moscato super popular a few years back? Yeah, I did too. And now everyone, even if you’re not a “true” wine drinker, are comfortable enough to drink Moscato. It is technically a wine, so yes, you are my friend, a wine drinker. When it comes to Moscato, it’s basically universal in dessert pairings. Anything with fruits and berries, custard, Creme Brulee, ice cream, it all pairs well. But…but…let them eat cake. No, I mean, seriously though, VANILLA CAKE! Topped with fresh whipped cream and strawberries, it’s a match made in heaven.
So, here are my 6 wine and dessert pairings that I put together myself that you can find at your local grocery store and are super easy to put together. I hope you all have a fun, relaxing, and safe Valentine’s Day. Let me know what are your favorite pairings down below in the comments. Cheers!
